About the Course
This 8-week online course will help participants develop their understanding of American Indian resistance to settler colonialism. A successful student possesses a fundamental understanding of Indigenous history and contemporary issues in the U.S.
The course will incorporate reading/viewing and reflection questions as well as eight one-hour recorded zoom panels with guest speakers. Readings will be accessed via the course shell hosted on Thinkific. This course is self-paced but moderated. This means there are no set meeting times or dates, so you can access it at your convenience. An instructor does manage and moderate the course, opening a week at a time.

*If you are Indigenous (American Indian, Alaska Native, First Nations, Native American, etc), this course is free.
Why solicit donations for this course? Chickadee believes in paying our speakers. We pay every speaker who appears in our programming, as well as all the artists who license us their artwork, like Monica Gilles-Brings Yellow above.
We also cover the course platform and zoom fees and other costs associated with maintaining mailing lists and email functionality. There's a lot to pay for! For those who can afford a donation, it is a good way to give back.
Artwork "Minnie Hollow Wood" by Monica Gilles-Brings Yellow. Minnie Hollow Wood (Lakota) fought the US 7th Cavalry alongside male warriors in the Battle of Little Bighorn. For this she earned the right to wear a warbonnet. She later married Hollow Wood (Northern Cheyenne).
